This event will look back at a decade of SDG implementation in Austrian policies on a local, national, and international level, assess progress and challenges, and, above all, offer concrete recommendations for the next five years. With the 2030 horizon approaching fast, and growing urgency for a just socio-ecological transformation, the conversation will also set the stage for discussions about the future of sustainable development beyond 2030.

We are especially honoured to welcome Adil Najam, inaugural Dean Emeritus at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University and Professor of International Relations and of Earth and Environment, who will deliver the keynote address Global Reflections on the SDGs at 10 Years: Where Do We Go from Here?, followed by a Q&A.

The event will also feature:

  • Sneak preview of SDG Watch Austria’s findings and recommendations after 10 years of Austrian SDG implementation.
  • fishbowl discussion on Just Transition, focusing on socio-ecological mechanisms for change. Discussion themes include:
    • Climate change and climate politics
    • Inequalities and poverty alleviation
    • Financing sustainable development and the SDGs
    • Policy Coherence For Sustainable Development (PCSD) and negative spillover effects on the Global South

Moderation: Karin Kuranda, Global Responsibility, and Judith Zimmermann-Lackner, KOO

The event will be held in English.

We look forward to a morning of critical reflection, shared learning, and constructive dialogue with stakeholders from across sectors.

Join us in shaping the next steps for Austria’s and Europe’s contribution to the global goals.
