Workshop (EN)
18.09.2026 | 09:00 – 12:00 | Sargfabrik, Goldschlagstraße 169, 1140 Vienna In this interactive workshop lead by Eilidh Kennedy (IARAN), you will explore how shifting power dynamics, localization, and changing roles are reshaping the future of humanitarian action – and what these changes mean for organizations today.
As the aid sector faces growing uncertainty, humanitarian organizations are being challenged to rethink their roles, partnerships, and ways of working. This interactive workshop will explore how the humanitarian aid systems may evolve over the next 15 years, with a particular focus on localization, shifting power dynamics, and the changing value of different actors within the aid ecosystem. Using IARAN’s Future of Aid 2040 study as a base, this workshop will be a combination of presentation, discussion, and collaborative group work designed to challenge participants to reflect on how their own organizations may need to adapt to remain relevant, effective, and accountable in an increasingly locally-led future.
The Future of Aid 2040 initiative was designed to respond to three core aims:
